And other lies we tell ourselves…
There are so many times I’ve heard dances say things like “I can’t do left” or “I’m not a turner.” And of course, there are many times I’ve thought those things too. As a coach, it honestly wasn’t a lot better. I would think, “I wish I could be as talented as she is,” or “I can’t do that like he can.” But I’ve learned something over the years that I want to share with all of you today. We lie to ourselves a lot. Maybe we don’t mean to, maybe we don’t even know it, or maybe we really believe those negative thoughts in our own heads. But we can be better. So let’s talk about the lies we tell ourselves and what they really mean.
Here are some highlights:
- [1m 24s] When I noticed my own fixed mindset
- [4m 00s] How fixed mindset shows up in dance
- [6m 51s] 4 Types of Fixed Mindset Lies
- [9m 05s] Examples of a fixed mindset
- [10m 23s] How these thoughts impact you and your dance abilities
Growth Mindset Workshops
For the dancers who are struggling to push through challenges or stay motivated, custom workshops are available for school teams or studios to discuss growth and fixed mindset. We go deeper than just mindset and apply it to dance by identifying their personal fix mindset triggers and discussing ways to intentionally shift into a growth mindset.
Workshops are available in-person or virtually. Click the link below for more info!
